IWEco’s Cuba National sub-Project Coordinating Team held the First Workshop on Environmental Regulation of the Arimao River Basin at the Department of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) of Cienfuegos on 10th July 2019. The Arimao River Basin in Cienfuegos Province is one of four demonstration areas that are part of the Cuba National sub-Project.
The Workshop aimed: to facilitate the development of environmental regulations to be incorporated into the Physical Planning System and adopted by the Province’s Watershed Council; and, to define the participation and roles of the various institutions in the delivery of information and in the process of developing environmental regulations. Organizations and entities with responsibility for development and implementation of integrated environmental regulation participated.
The Workshop concluded with the signing of a co-operation agreement by the participating institutions and organizations which will provide information and collaborate in the development process.
